Bill Joy, best known as co-founder of and chief scientist at Sun, is leaving the company. Joy is the author of the much loved (and equally hated) Vi editor, the C shell, and significant portions of BSD. Joy is also responsible for technologies like Java and Jini.
There's an interesting 1984 interview of Bill Joy.

First computer bug

Slashdot is running a story about the first computer bug, a moth found trapped in the Mark II Aiken Relay Calculator. Readers pointed out that this was the first actual case of a (real) bug being found; the use of the term "bug" predates the incident, going back to as early as 1896.
And which is the most famous bug? My vote: Windows 98 crashes during Gates' Comdex demo :-)
