Saw this movie—“50 First Dates”—on Friday. Good light-hearted comedy love story, similar to “Love Actually” and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”. Some of the scenes are hilarious (thanks to Rob Schneider, one east-Asian-looking guy in the restaurant, the fat cook, Lucy's muscle-crazy brother, and a few other funny characters).
Lucy (Drew Barrymore) is a cute 20-something girl who visits the restaurant everyday. Henry (Adam Sandler) works at the aquarium (brushing the walrus's teeth and doing other interesting stuff (like getting the walrus to puke)). Henry falls in love with Lucy, and Lucy loves him back—only for a day. Lucy has a memory problem—she can't remember the events of the previous day when she wakes up in the morning! So, the next day, Lucy cannot recognise Henry! What's more, this happens everyday. And every single day, Henry tries to get Lucy to fall in love with him, all over again, for the first time!!!
”How cute!!!” I can almost hear the girls exclaim. Hang on, we have a technical problem here. We aren't persisting memory. The filesystem is mounted read-only? Let's save to external media, and everytime we boot, we run the initialisation scripts to load the data back into memory, so we can start where we left off before shutdown.
( Have I lost my audience? Come back... )
